Frequently Asked Questions

Can I watch you groom my pet?                                                                          Due to insurance reasons and safety factors (water slippage, lose hoses, electrical connections, etc.), it is against our policy for clients to observe pets or enter the mobile vehicle when grooming is in session.  If you would like to know more about the process or what will be happening, please request a tour and grooming information prior to starting the process.

In addition to safety factors, your pet may get excited or anxious at your presence.  Pets who are distracted or who are twisting (to look at you or to reach you) are difficult to manage and this can effect your pets final cut. It is also safer for you pet to be calm when cutting shears are near sensitive and delicate skin.

Is tipping customary?
As with any personal care service (massage, pedicure, hairstyling), tips are customary and a normal part of the grooming experience. A personal review or a referral to a friend are also excellent way to show your appreciation for a job well done.

Why does grooming cost so much?                                                             Grooming a dog is very demanding work. Imagine how long it takes to trim and style a head of human hair. Multiply that by the size of the dog and add the inability to hold still, various behavior issues needing to groom very sensitive areas. On top of that dogs go weeks at time without getting brushed or washed.  In addition to the logistics of grooming a dog, individual dog personalities, emotions, temperaments and anxieties also need to be factored in.  Some dogs respond aggressively, some are fearful, some have difficulty cooperating...each individual reaction needs to be handled in an effective manner in order for the grooming to continue.  Addressing these issues can be time consuming and need patience and care to over come.

How do you schedule appointments?
Appointments are scheduled via voicemail, text or e-mail. Please remember that it will take time to return scheduling requests and that calls are not answered during current grooming appointments.  When leaving a message, please leave the following relevant information: name, phone number, breed of pet, and address.  You may also leave desired appointment day and time, though scheduling is base on appointment openings (efforts will be made to accommodate your requests whenever possible).

What areas do you serve?
Broadmoor Mobile Dog Grooming service area is primarily focused in the Broadmoor area. A radius of 15 miles from this general area will be accommodated pending scheduling availability.  If you request services and are beyond the 15 mile radius, an additional travel fee may be added.  Appropriate routing and distancing is essential in keeping a timely and concise schedule.

How long does the grooming process take?
A complete grooming can take anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 hours depending on the breed, size of dog, condition of the fur and special services requested.   Every pet is different, and every appointment is different. Live animals can be unpredictable and their responses to nail trimming, trimmer noises, blower pressure and water saturation are unique to each animal. Times are adjusted to meet the needs of the pet.

What if my pet has lots of tangles?
Tangles and matting need extra care. Dogs skin can be very sensitive and it takes time and skill to remove matts without injuring the dog.  These matts can be very close to the animals skin and risk of nicks and cuts is very real. Rushing the process can certainly result in injury.  Some tangles can be combed through and some matted hair can be saved without a total shave.  Again, this takes much time and patience and is not considered a normal groom.  Cost for working through these issues can be discuss prior to grooming.

Do you use my electricity and water?
Broadmoor Mobile Dog Grooming is self contained and fully equipped with power and water resources.  You will not be inconvenienced in any way in regards to energy needs.

Do you use hot or cold water?
Like most people, dogs are sensitive to heat and cold.  The grooming process is most successful when the pet is comfortable.  Therefore warm water, that is not too hot or too cold is best.  In addition, warm water helps to open hair follicles making the brushing process easier. Broadmoor Mobile Dog Grooming vehicle is also climate controlled.  Your pet will be warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Will there be any water dumped on my street during the grooming process?
Broadmoor Mobile Dog Grooming is sensitive to the needs of the community and the desire to maintain a standard of quality.  We are equipped with a special reserve tank that ensures that no water spillage will occur at your residence.  We will leave your street as clean as it was when we arrived.

How often should my pet be groomed?
Grooming should occur every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the breed.  Some specialty breeds need special care & attention.  In these cases, grooming should occur more often.  Other breeds are more easily maintained and times between grooming can be longer.  Specifics of your dog breed can be discussed at the time of scheduling. The decision to schedule grooming is always at the discretion of the client, we will simply advise.

I cant seem to contact you directly, why do I always get your voicemail?
Full attention is put on the dog that is currently being groomed.  Calls are returned between grooms or in the morning/evening hours, depending on the events of the day.  Please know that is a pleasure to meet and work with new clients and their pets.  Be patient.  Calls will be returned as soon as possible.
